Paper Boat Benches

A school in Mexico asked me to design a bench that could be produced and used outdoors for their preschool and kindergarten kids. The school was picturing normal benches where kids could sit during recess, but I wanted to design something that perhaps could be more unique and special. After sketching, model making, creating some 3D renderings and working with a fiberglass company in Mexico to produce these boats, the result was a bit more fun than they had pictured and they were very happy with them.

The final design was produced as a unique fiberglass molded piece that can be reproduced and changed in color. The boats were purposefully made with Fiberglass because it is easy to maintain and light enough to be moved. The bench shape is designed to be modular, when placing boats together it offers kids a bigger area to sit on and play.
